It’s always unfortunate to admit that an Audi fails to live up to the expectations of car enthusiasts, but the Audi RS4 falls into that category. It’s not that the Audi RS4 convertible is a terrible vehicle, it’s just not a particularly interesting one. Audi most definitely succeeded in putting enough power under the hood and enough perks on the driving console to make even the most gadget hungry drivers happy, but there’s something missing from the drive that brings the whole car down. Keep reading to see what we liked and didn’t like about the RS4 convertible.
What You Know and Love
Under the bonnet of the Audi RS4 convertible is a very powerful machine. A 4.2 liter V8 pumps out just over four hundred twenty horse power to the wheels, and if you don’t speak car, that’s one hell of a lot of juice. Considering the size of the sedan, it’s zero to sixty times are fabulous. Considering the amount of power coming out from this tiny little convertible, it gets surprisingly good gas mileage. The EPA estimates that it can achieve about twenty miles per gallon on the highway and right around fifteen in the city. Of course these numbers should always be rounded down for a proper driving estimate, but twenty as a base number to work from is pretty good for this beast of an engine. And as always, Audi spared no expense on the interior of the RS4. There are all of the goodies, like an iPod dock, heated seats (only available in the convertible), and sleek styling all across the dash. However, if you’re looking for a new car….

Why You Would Look Elsewhere
The Audi just doesn’t cut it as a car that can stand by itself. Audi has forever been compared to BMW’s in the same class, and this review will be no exception. The fact of the matter is that the Audi RS4 convertible is too much like its other German counterpart to even be memorable. Sure, it’s fast and has nice looks that may get you a date for Friday night, but when it comes to value, spending almost $70,000 on the base model of the 2010 convertible is just completely absurd. There are plenty of other great vehicles on the road that are worth more of your money than the RS4. Hell, even some of Audi’s other vehicles may be better suited to your driving style.
The Audi RS4 convertible just feels far too sterile and far too conventional to be a standout car. If you know anything at all about Audi, you’ll know what you’re getting with the RS4. All of the nice perks and sleek features on the interior are included, and the power under the hood is standard. That’s what makes this car so dissatisfying. If you know what you’re going to get with a car, why even bother taking it for a test drive?
